The first Sony press conference will take place during Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on the 6th of January 2014. What new products can we expect? From rumours, leaks and informations found on POSTEL websites, AnTuTu benchmarks and FCC webpages we know, that Sony will release new D-series of Sony Xperia devices. Sony Xperia E1 and E1 dual (known as Falcon SS D2004/D2005 and Falcon DS D2104/D2005) will be successors of Xperia E / E dual. We also can expect successor of Sony Xperia ZR (rumours about project D5503 "Amami" - also known as Z1 mini), Sony D6503 (successor of Xperia ZL?), Sony D5303 (Successor of Xperia SP?), Sony D2303 (Xperia C successor?) and a new tablet SGP521, which probably will be the LTE version of Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
Can we expect a new flagship model for 2014?
New Year wishes from Sony says clearly:
[Xperia Z1] is our strongest selling smartphone to date and will continue as our flagship into 2014.
so for now on there will be no new flagship presented.
Can we expect any surprises?
For sure. Some rumours from theinformation portal suggests that Sony will cooperate with Microsoft and release in the middle of 2014 a new Windows Phone, probably VAIO branded. Sony has only 3 devices with Windows OS in it's portfolio: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and M1 Aspen. Will that change in 2014? If Microsoft will licence it's OS to Sony on reasonable conditions, that of course can happen.
Triaditionally we can expect new products from Sony to be announced on CES in Las Vegas (6th of January 2014) and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (24-27 February 2014).
