Hello,

If you have a Sony Xperia device and you want to root it (get super user access) - this tutorial is for you. Thanks to fantastic solution from Geohot (George Hotz), a hacker which managed how to successfully jailbreak the PlayStation 3, we can root almost any Sony Xperia device using one simple application!

This method works for any Android device with a kernel built before 3 June 2014 (Android 4.4.2 KitKat and lower). You can root almost any Samsung phone using this solution, but it's confirmed that it works also for Sony Xperia S LT26, Sony Xperia TX LT29, Sony Xperia T LT30, Sony Xperia V LT25, Sony Xperia M C1904 / C1905, Sony Xperia Z C6602 / C6603 / C6606 / C6616, Sony Xperia ZL C6502 / C6503 / C6506, Sony Xperia SP (on Android 4.3 firmware), Sony Xperia E1 D2004 / D2005, Sony Xperia E1 Dual D2104 / D2105, Sony Xperia M2 D2302 / D2303, Sony Xperia M2 dual, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact D5503, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and for sure many more. It also works for Xperia Z Tablets. It does not work on Sony Xperia Z1 C6903 running the latest Android Kit Kat firmware build 14.3.A.0.757, but you can flash earlier firmware version and try to root your phone :)

This method works for devices with locked and unlocked bootloader - so you can root your phone without loosing warranty!

Root instructions:

The latest compilation is not supported. You must:

1. Download 20.0.A.XXX firmware from the internet,

2. Flash it using flashtool: http://sony.yt/topic...oid-smartphone/ ,

3. Root your phone using towelroot,

4. Update it via Firmware Over The Air (app from phone, not pc companion via usb cable).

And your phone will be rooted and running the latest available firmware :)

Most of the one-click rooting tools only support Android versions lower than the Lollipop. If some needs to root higher Android version, Magisk is better
