Hello,

 

Today i would like to make a short presentation of Android 2.1 Eclair operating system. One of the most popular Sony Ericsson smartphones - Xperia X8 - has been released with Android 1.6 donut operating system in 2010 year, then Sony Ericsson has released Android 2.1 update for all Xperia X10, X10mini, X10 mini pro and X8 owners. Let's see what has changed

 

1. Lock screen, home screen and widgets:

As you can see - the first difference is the new "slide to unlock" way to unlock your screen lock. Just like in iPhone. Also you can see a few changes in widgets, a few different icons and battery status.

 

2. Menu and applications:

There is still no menu button, you must slide up or down to switch between menu and home screen. A few different icons and more apps.

5. Icon management, uninstalling apps, changing wallpaper / widgets:

 

In this version of Android OS it's enough to hold app icon to enable option to change icons arrangement or to delete specific app. In Android 1.6 Donut that does not work, you must press options => Arrange icons

Also one new improvement: Live wallpapers Don't be too excited, there is no live wallpapers in phone - you must download them. You've got only the possibility to use them

So pretty much that's it. As you can see, there is not many changes in Android 2.1 Eclair OS. A few cosmetic changes, a few new icons, not many improvements. There is still no USB or wi-fi tethering, but it's worth to use Android 2.1 - more apps from market (Google Play) will work. Time to change our Xperia X8 phone into W8 Walkman phone!
