Hello,
Today i will show you how to unbrick your Sony Xperia SP C5303 and update boot. Sony Xperia SP smartphone can be bricked because of damaged boot.
If your phone is dead and you have warranty - send your phone to Sony - you will get new phone.
If your phone is dead and you do not have warranty, this tutorial is for you. Remember, during this process you can damage your phone, everything you are doing on your own risk.
Bricked phone symptoms:
- can't power on after flash,
- no lcd or led reaction for power button,
- no lcd or led reaction for charger,
- no lcd or led reaction if phone is connected to PC,
- your PC can't detect your phone with vol-,
- phone does not vibrate when holding vol+ and power together.
Repair steps:
1. Firstly connect turned off bricked phone to your PC. If phone will be detected in device manager as:
qhusb_dload device
you are lucky and this is the end of the first step for you. Just disconnect phone.
If your phone can't be detected at all, you must find testpoint. Disassemble your phone using this service manual: http://sony.yt/topic...kcja-serwisowa/ , remove battery and connect each golden point on main board one by one to metal shield and attach usb cable. If your phone will be detected in device manager as flash device or something like that - congratulations - you've found testpoint. Don't forget to take a picture of main board and mark testpoint for other sony.yt members and post it in this topic
2. Download and install the latest Gordon's Gate Flash Driver from this post:
ggsetup-3.0.0.7.exe 3.58MB
14087 downloads
3. Download and run this s1tool:
s1tool 19V2015.exe 3.52MB
2929 downloads
4. Download boot firmware for your Sony Xperia SP (extract it from rar):
S1Boot_R11B023_HWID7E50E1.rar 320 KB
2254 Ilość pobrań
5. In S1tool choose S1 EMERGENCY mode, press Flash button, select Sony Xperia SP boot firmware .sin_file_set file,
6. Press Testpoint READY button:
and if your phone is detected as qhusb_dload device, just attach usb cable. If not, perform all steps from point 3 (connect testpoint to GND and attach USB cable).
7. When drivers will be installed and phone will be detected, program will ask you to disconnect testpoint. Disconnect testpoint from GND and press Testpoint READY button.
8. After that phone will load emergency s1 loader, re-enumerate usb, load s1 loader and flash selected boot firmware.

Try this S1tool: s1tool08072014.zip 3.28MB 1653 downloads - it's the latest one. If that will not help, that means your phone is not supported and the only thing you can do is to buy working Xperia SP with broken LCD and swap main board.

No. Remember, that it's really hard to damage / erase boot in Xperia SP phone. What happened that your phone became a brick? I'm pretty sure it's hardware problem, not boot update issue.

This is also wrong. You must flash Xperia SP boot then fully reflash it using proper .sin_file_set firmware. If you want to know how to change .ftf flashtool files to Setool2 / S1Tool .sin_file_set files, read this tutorial: http://sony.yt/topic...55-smartphones/

What version of S1Tool do you use? What happened that your phone became a brick? Try to flash it with only APPSW, FSP and ELABEL files using testpoint.

Do you have original trim area backup?
If yes - attach it here. I will make fixup script for you.
If no - phone is a brick. Buy working Xperia SP with broken screen and swap main board or sell your phone for replacement parts. There is nothing more to do.

Dear Jurij,
Can you please direct me that how to connect the test point with the ground.
1] Can i use a Metal U-Pin?

Disassemble your phone, remove battery and using metal paper clip, testpoint wire etc. connect each golden point one by one with GND (for example metal shield on the main board) and attach usb cable. It's an example image from Xperia Z testpoint:
but now you should know how to do that. If you will see new device in Windows Device Manager - you've found testpoint.
I've found image of testpoint location for Xperia SP:
C_5303.jpg 7,77 KB 87 Ilość pobrań C_5303a.jpg 7,59 KB 66 Ilość pobrań
Please try this testpoint as a first one and confirm that it works.

Any output log? Well, are you sure that all Sony programs (PC Companion) and other tools are turned off (also in tray)?
