Romaster - tutorial how to root Sony Xperi...

Jurij's Photo Jurij 27 Dec 2013

Hello,

Today i will show you how to root Sony Xperia smartphones using easy method from famous developer the_laser. This tutorial works for any Sony Xperia device released in 2012 and 2013 year and running Android OS 4.0 - 4.2.2 (with kernel 3.0 - 3.4). It does not work on Android 4.3 and newer. Supported devices:

Sony Xperia 2012: Xperia acro S, Xperia go, Xperia GX, Xperia ion, Xperia J, Xperia miro, Xperia neo L, Xperia P, Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia sola, Xperia SX, Xperia T, Xperia TL, Xperia tipo, Xperia tipo dual, Xperia TX, Xperia U, Xperia V, Xperia VC, Xperia VL, Xperia AX

Sony Xperia 2013:  Xperia A, Xperia E | E dual, Xperia L, Xperia M, Xperia M dual, Xperia SP, Xperia UL, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1f

How to root your phone:

1. Download and unpack root tool: Attached File  romaster.zip   1.75MB   1264 downloads

2. Enable in your phone USB debugging and Unknown sources in applications. In 2013 Xperia phones you must tap 7 times on kernel version to enter secret menu with USB debugging option.

3. Connect usb cable to your phone, allow Windows to install drivers (or install PC Companion then turn it off) and run root.cmd file.

This program will install Super User and busybox applications and root your phone. It's much safer than v-root or kingoroot software, because it does not require internet connection and will not send your IMEI or any other data to servers in China. In this thread you can share with us what Xperia device you've successfully rooted using this tool ;)

Best regards,

Jurij

You can unroot your phone by flashing it with flashtool for example or by update firmware via PC Companion (via usb cable). If this tutorial will not work for you, you can root your phone using Towelroot: http://sony.yt/topic...-xperia-device/:)

There is no point of unrooting phone, but if you must do it (before sending your phone for warranty repair for example) - just reflash your phone.

I've moved your previous post to a new topic: http://sony.yt/topic...d-skype-update/as it has nothing to do with rooting. Please reply to my questions in a new topic ;)

Jurij, hi, I've got Xperia ion lt28h and am going to root it. Downloaded romaster.zip from http://sony.yt/topic...id-smartphones/, performed all actions 1-3, runned root.cmd, but it told: "device not found". WTF?
USB connection is fair, phone's memory is accessible

By the way, recently my phone started rebooting when switching on GPS. This problem appeared at several users: [removed], and they say GPS configuration should be adjusted through the root access. Any further hints maybe?

faflak: Welcom :)

First: read forum rules point 5d

second: this topic concerns root xperia, if you have a problem with the gps, please create new topic

Just don't forget to perform step number 2:

Enable in your phone USB debugging and Unknown sources in applications.

Phone memory is not enough, usb debugging should be on and adb drivers installed.
